Chilabula, located in Luanshya, Zambia

Chilabula community profile

Chilabula is a small community located in Luanshya near the township of Roan. The small village of 2500 people living in thatched houses is 6 kilometres from town. Families struggle to make a living through farming. They depend on produce food like maize and groundnuts for their very survival.

The needs of the community are overwhelming. Education is a huge concern, especially the HIV/AIDS programs for youth. Adult literacy rates are low, and there is an absence of proper medical care facilities.

The prevalence of HIV/AIDS is also much greater than in the city. We are partnering with 15 churches to care for the orphaned children and those with AIDS. More than 100 children are without parents or support. There is much to do.
