Praise and Prayer Requests

Theresa Malila, Malawian partner, visiting Canada: We are very excited for the head of our Malawian partner organization, Theresa Malila, to be visiting Canada at the end of May. While she is here she will be speaking at two churches and meeting with a number of WOW supporters. Please pray for her travels and that she arrives here safely. Please also pray for the churches she is speaking at and the people she meets with. Theresa has a powerful voice and uses it to advocate for orphans and widows throughout Malawi.  Pray for open hearts to receive the message God has given her to share.
Home based care patient: Please pray for a WOW home based care patient in Kabwe, Zambia who has gone through a traumatic and painful medical ordeal. She has had a tumor in her abdomen for some time now however the doctors are unsure how to treat it as it seems to grow and shrink. This has caused significant worry for this woman as she has to simply wait to see what the doctors decide. Praise God for the support she receives through her home based care volunteer who helps her with her medication, arranges transportation for doctors appointments and prays with her through the process.
Gender-based violence: In every corner of the world women are vulnerable to sexual violence. In Malawi many cultural traditions and stigmas justify the violence women face on a daily basis. WOW is actively working to educate communities on the toxicity of these views, as well as work with local law enforcement to ensure that proper consequences are given to those who commit violent acts against women. On top of this we provide trauma counselling for victims of abuse. Please pray for WOW communities in Malawi as they work together to end violence against women. Pray also for the many counsellors who work with those who have been horribly wronged. They hear devastating stories on a daily basis and give of their own emotions and energy to walk through the healing journey with victims of abuse. Pray that they too would have the support they need. Please pray for the victims of gender-based violence. Often it is young girls who are targets of such heinous crimes. They need empathy, continuous support and the love of Christ to even begin the process of healing.
Continue to pray for John and his Grandmother: Last month we asked for you to join us in prayer for John and his grandma, whose roof collapsed after a severe storm. WOW is working to build them a new home and during this time they are staying with another family. However, we were told that the host family is growing tired of John and his grandma being in the house as well. This has caused a lot of stress on the grandmother as she does not want to be a burden. Please pray that their house would be built quickly and pray that both John and his grandma would feel peace through the process. Pray too for the host family that they would have grace and love for their guests, and see this as an opportunity to love others in their community.
We are so thankful that you stand with us in prayer!
